Abstract: Popular opinion would suggest that the work week begins with a whimper. Mondays are typically better known for reluctance than for productivity, and with all the mourning of Mondays and the anticipation of Fridays, a series of workplace questions emerge: What role does the day of the week play in employee performance? Which aspects of performance register changes based on the day of the week? Are employees more or less effective in different ways on different days?
We set out to find an answer to this question using 50,000 performance data points representing 20,000 frontline sales and service employees from 6 large companies. Our analysis ultimately shows that the beginning of the week sees the best Schedule Adherence and Average Handle Time but that Sales Conversion improves as the end of the week nears. Customer Satisfaction, on the other hand, remains relatively consistent throughout the workweek.
